We propose that prostate cancer generates a hypoxic microenvironment, and hypoxia induces the expression of a series of downstream genes such as hypoxia-inducible factors and ten-eleven translocation 1 (TET1), which promotes the upregulation of epigenetic modulator EZH2 and hypoxia-responsive miR-93. The gene discussed is TET1; the disease is prostate carcinoma.
