IL6 and type 1 diabetes mellitus: The low expression of miR-146a observed in T1D patients could be associated with an overproduction of inflammatory cytokines, as observed in studies with mice, which show that the decrease in the expression levels of miR-146a is associated with an excessive increase in proinflammatory cytokines (TNF-α and |IL-6) in response to LPS or cytokines, as in the case of sepsis and asthma (26).
