The subsequent investigation in a series of gliomas demonstrated the applicability of the TERT promoter mutations in the classification of diffuse gliomas [4], and the selectively high frequency of the TERT promoter mutations was observed among 1p/19q-codeleted oligodendrogliomas and IDH-wildtype glioblastoma (GBM) [5]. The gene discussed is IDH1; the disease is central nervous system cancer.
