Consistent with our findings in humans, IL-33 mRNA (Fig. 1h) and protein (Fig. 1i) increase was only detected in gastric mucosa of WT H. pylori-strain-infected mice, reaching a peak 56 days post infection (p.i.), indicating a crucial role for cagA in the induction of IL-33 during H. pylori infection.
