YAP1 and neoplasm: Mammalian Vestigial-like 4 (VGLL4) is a tumor suppressor that does not bind directly to DNA but competes with YAP for binding TEADs137, 138. A peptide capable of mimicking the function of VGLL4 suppressed tumor growth in vitro and in vivo, implying that disrupting the YAP-TEAD interaction by a VGLL4-mimicking peptide may be a therapeutic strategy for inhibiting YAP-mediated cell proliferation137.
