A recent study reported that Paneth cells were an original site for intestinal inflammation, such as IBD, which could regulate inflammatory reactions via the release of AMPs and other peptides, including IgA, lysozyme, phospholipase A2 and B, matrix metalloproteinase-7, lipopolysaccharide-binding protein, and several inflammatory cytokines (11, 93–95).
