Additional recent findings linking senescence in prostate cancer to calcium signaling pertain to the nuclear factor of activated T-cells c1 (NFATc1), a protein previously implicated in the regulation of expression of prostate specific membrane antigen in an ionomycin-responsive manner in LNCaP cells [123], as well as in the expression of the osteomimicry markers in PC3 and C4-2B cells [124]. Here, NFATC1 is linked to prostate cancer.
