Following the in-vivo indications that the autonomic, including cholinergic, nerve infiltration promoted prostate cancer development [177], the in-vitro work by Wang et al. [176] revealed the existence of autocrine acetylcholine signaling in epithelial prostate cancer cells, which proceeds through the muscarinic GPCR CHRM3 and a Ca2+ influx.
