Last and most importantly, when introduced into DRG neurons via AAV-mediated infection, only wild-type TRPV1, but not its SUMOylation-deficient mutant (K822R), can rescue the impairment of inflammatory thermal hyperalgesia found in the TRPV1−/−mice and this effect was neither affected nor mimicked by preventing phosphorylation at S502 and S800 of TRPV1. Here, TRPV1 is linked to infection.
