THBS1 and cancer: In terms of metabolomics profiling, we found that the metabolites higher in Cluster 2 compared to Cluster 1 may be involved in pathways related to lipid metabolism through endocannabinoid-related systems that can modulate cancer cell growth and proliferation (N-Acylethanolamines and Anandamide biosynthesis) [14, 15], and more significantly, creating an environment for increased migratory potential (Thrombospondin 1) [16] (Fig 2C).
