Surprisingly in the sense that corticosteroids can highly affect blood pressure, only 2 cytochrome P450 enzyme genes involved with corticosteroidogenesis have been linked to hypertension by GWASs—CYP17A1 and CYP21A2. And of that, only SNPs in the CYP17A1 gene have been replicated, though even then with inconsistent results. The gene discussed is CYP17A1; the disease is hypertensive disorder.
