In mouse models of CD4+ T-cell deficiency, including CD4 or MHC-II knockout mice, or TCR specific for an irrelevant ovalbumin-derived peptide in transgenic OTII mice, CD4+ T cell-deficient mice show increased cardiac inflammation, impaired wound healing, left ventricular remodeling, and impaired survival (63). The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is congenital T-cell immunodeficiency.
