WT1 and Familial prostate cancer: Breslow et al.(1993) found that WT1 protein is a transcriptional regulation factor. Itcan activate or inhibit the expression of target genes, producing differentbiological effects. WT1 plays a role in regulating cell proliferation, growth, differentiation and apoptosis (Scharnhorstet al., 2001) and can be both a tumor suppressor anda carcinogenic inducer. Moreover, WT1 has been foundhypermethylated in many tumors including glioblastoma, prostate cancer and ovariancancer (Jacobs et al., 2013;Jiang et al., 2014;Rankeillor et al.,2014).
