To that end, we performed immunohistochemistry staining on fibrotic Dupuytren’s tissue from human flexor tendons and observed ubiquitous levels of TGF-β1 and PAI-1 (Fig. 1), which is consistent with published reports implicating this pathway in mediating the fibrotic traits of Dupuytren’s disease in tendon23. This evidence concerns the gene TGFB1 and Dupuytren Contracture.
