CYP2C19 and myocardial infarction: Specifically, we showed in a study of 412 patients who underwent CYP2C19 genotyping and PCI at UF Health in Gainesville that there was a higher incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), consisting of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, stroke, or stent thrombosis, in patients with a nonfunctional allele treated with clopidogrel versus prasugrel or ticagrelor [28].
