Recent in vitro and in vivo studies demonstrated that nanoscale micelles encapsulating ethacraplatin, a conjugate of cisplatin, and ethacrynic acid (inhibitor of glutathione S-transferase) resulted in enhanced accumulation of active cisplatin in cancer cells by inhibiting glutathion S transferase and circumventing deactivation of cisplatin [27].
