The neoplastic B-cells of BL, both EBV associated and EBV negative, harbour a characteristic translocation involving the c-Myc locus (on chromosome 8) with one of the immunoglobulin (Ig) loci (IgH on chromosome 14, or less frequently Igκ or Igλ on chromosomes 2 and 22 respectively) [178]. The gene discussed is MYC; the disease is Burkitt lymphoma.
