Cytokeratin 18 (CK18) fragments, an intermediate protein in the liver involved in apoptosis, and fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF-21), an important biomarker for diagnosis of NASH, were augmented in these individuals; however, after resveratrol supplementation, concentration of these proteins significantly decreased. This evidence concerns the gene FGF21 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
