IL1B and neoplasm: Inflammation in the tumor microenvironment that is mediated by IL‐1β is believed to have an important role in cancer invasiveness, progression, and metastases.11 Thus, further support for the anticancer action of AJA comes from the report that it can inhibit the production of IL‐1β.12 An example of such a mechanism comes from a randomized, double‐blind, placebo‐controlled trial of the IL‐1β inhibitor, canakinumab.13 Thus, it is quite reasonable to suggest that IL‐1β inhibitors, such as AJA, could produce a similar therapeutic action without side effects.
