The early increased expression of ERK1/2 in DRGs on day 3 is in agreement with other studies reporting its phosphorylation and hyperactivity in certain cancer cell lines (Park et al., 2010; Steinmetz et al., 2004) and chemotherapy-induced neuropathy (Reyes-Gibby et al., 2015) and the persistent pain-induction. This evidence concerns the gene MAPK3 and cancer.
