CRP and gastric cancer: Yamamoto and colleagues [32] compared the efficiency of plasma fibrinogen levels to that of other prognostic markers for predicting gastric cancer recurrence, and their results indicated that plasma fibrinogen level was the most efficient of seven known prognostic markers (the others were carcinoembryonic antigen, carbohydrate antigen 19–9, and C-reactive protein levels, platelet counts, the platelet-to-lymphocyte and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio) for predicting recurrence.
