Many cancer drugsalso induce apoptosis via the activation of c-Jun N-terminalkinases (JNK), which is downstream of the MAPK pathway. These results suggest that cancer cells, including those, which aredrug resistant, can be effectively treated by using one drug thatmakes the cells susceptible to death through the alteredexpression or regulation of cell death pathway members incombination with another cytotoxic drug that kills the cells intheir vulnerable states. This evidence concerns the gene MAPK8 and cancer.
