In addition to the pharmacological assessment of the role of the central RAS in BPH/2J mice our analysis of the results of gene expression in the hypothalamus of BPH/2J mice (Marques et al., 2011b) suggests no differences in the expression of the angiotensin converting enzymes (ACE and ACE2), angiotensin receptors (AT1A, AT1B, AT2, and Mas receptors) or angiotensinogen in the hypothalamus of BPH/2J and BPN/3J strains (Marques et al., 2011b). The gene discussed is ACE; the disease is benign prostatic hyperplasia.
