VCAM1 and rheumatoid arthritis: Wang et al. showed that serum VCAM-1 levels were much higher in patients with RA than in controls, and that the prolonged use of aspirin, a non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug, decreased serum levels of rheumatoid factor and VCAM-1, suggesting that serum levels of VCAM-1 may be related to the disease condition [51].
