Human tauopathies, which include among other diseases progressive supranuclear palsy, Pick's disease, and corticobasal degeneration, are neurodegenerative conditions that share with AD the formation and progressive accumulation of neurofibrillary tangles, which result from the deposition of hyperphosphorylated tau protein (Arendt, Stieler & Holzer, 2016; Spillantini & Goedert, 2013). Here, MAPT is linked to tauopathy.
