Papillary thyroid carcinoma is the most common form of thyroid cancer based on the histopathological differentiation of subtypes of molecular patterns into different subtypes, such as the follicular variant of PTC (FVPTC) and the classic variant of PTC (CVPTC).111 Expression of septin 7 and its subcellular location have been shown to be associated with specific subtypes of PTC.111 Nuclear, cytoplasmic and overall septin 7 expression were much lower in FVPTC tissues in contrast with benign hyperfunctioning thyroid nodules. The gene discussed is SEPTIN7; the disease is thyroid cancer.
