Although the molecular mechanism for the pathogenesis of HCC has not been well described, mounting evidence has demonstrated the aberrant activation of cell signaling pathways such as AKT/mTOR, RAS/MAPK, Wnt/β-catenin, insulin-like growth factor (IGF), and nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) were involved in the development of HCC [6, 7]. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
