Further, FOXM1 and UBE2C expression profiles were also assessed in 52 paired ESCC and non-malignant adjacent mucosa specimens, showing that both genes were overexpressed (4.5- and 2.2-fold higher, respectively) in tumors, in respect to their non-malignant adjacent mucosa (Figure 3A), and that their expression was positively correlated (r = 0.39, p = 0.0043) (Figure 3B).
