Given the increased levels of HN [16] and GLUT8 [17] under conditions of oxidative stress observed in non-placental systems, and the intracellular localization of both, we hypothesized that there may be a similar expression profile of HN and GLUT8 in the placenta, and that expression of these may be altered in pregnancy affected by IUGR. This evidence concerns the gene MT-RNR2 and fetal growth restriction.
