While the majority of control HFs progressed through the anagen-catagen transformation relatively slowly and were mostly in early catagen stage, siATG5-transfected HFs involuted much more rapidly and reached the middle and late stages of catagen development (Fig 5C and 5D) with less than 10% of ATG5-silenced HFs having retained their characteristic anagen VI morphology. This evidence concerns the gene ANTXR2 and Hand-foot syndrome.
