Several chemokine receptors (eg CXCR1, CXCR2, CXCR3) are expressed in oligodendrocytes and show increased expression in MS, stroke and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Omari et al., 2005), and have been implicated in disorders in which myelin damage is associated with immune activation in the CNS. This evidence concerns the gene CXCR2 and stroke disorder.
