The aim of this study was to assess whether the addition of the biomarkers, placental growth factor (PIGF) and pregnancy-associated protein A (PAPP-A) to a previously developed prediction model [17] based on maternal clinical characteristics (diastolic blood pressure, family history of hypertension in parents, history of gestational hypertension (GH) in a previous pregnancy, parity, height and weight) improved prediction of gestational hypertension. The gene discussed is PIGF; the disease is preeclampsia.
