Considering that Ezrin overexpression induces the invasive potential of cervical tumors and it is associated with EMT, which is characterized by loss of E-cadherin expression, we propose using the Ezrin and E-cadherin immunostaining profile in liquid-based cytology, a noninvasive test, as predictor of prognosis in patients with squamous intraepithelial lesions. The gene discussed is EZR; the disease is squamous cell intraepithelial neoplasia.
