EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) are the preferred first-line treatment for advanced NSCLC with EGFR mutations [16, 17], and the EGFR-TKI erlotinib (Roche Pharma, Tarceva®, Basel, Switzerland) is also approved in Europe for treatment of patients with EGFR wild-type tumors after failure of at least one prior chemotherapy regimen [18]. This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
