This is consistent with reports that overexpression of SIRT3 in C57B6 mice liver in vivo did not protect against lipid accumulation induced by HFD, whereas SIRT3 deficient mice fed an HFD show accelerated obesity, insulin resistance, hyperlipidemia, and steatohepatitis compared with WT mice (21, 32). This evidence concerns the gene SIRT3 and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
