Increased levels of both vasodilators (e.g., nitric oxide, Smith and Lassmann, 2002) and vasoconstrictors (e.g., endothelin-1, D’haeseleer et al., 2013) have been reported in MS, due to the proliferation of glial cells to damaged areas, which could interfere with neurovascular coupling pathways in contrasting ways. This evidence concerns the gene EDN1 and myeloid sarcoma.
