Using a case-control genetic association study design and a tagging single nucleotide polymorphism (tSNP) approach, we previously found that genetic variation in ENG (rs11792489, rs10121110) and TGFβR2 (rs6550005) was significantly associated with the development of preeclampsia in American Caucasian women, while genetic variation in TGFβ1 (rs4803455, rs4803457), TGFβR1 (rs10739778), and TGFβR2 (rs6550005, rs1346907, rd877572) was significantly associated with the development of preeclampsia in African American women [24]. The gene discussed is ENG; the disease is preeclampsia.
