Regardless of an early report of preoperative CEA in recurrent colorectal cancer [10], the role of CEA in the prognoses may be dependent on the disease site (i.e., colon or rectal cancer), whether radiotherapy is applied, the end points examined (i.e., OS, DM, and LR), and the time at which the CEA level is measured. This evidence concerns the gene CEACAM5 and colorectal cancer.
