Taking into consideration the potential role of autoinflammation in disease pathogenesis, other potential candidates are the MEFV (Mediterranean fever) and TNFRSF1A (TNF receptor superfamily member 1A) genes, involved in the pathogenesis of the autoinflammatory disorders Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) and Tumor necrosis factor Receptor-Associated Periodic Syndrome (TRAPS) respectively [16,17]. This evidence concerns the gene MEFV and familial Mediterranean fever.
