Insulin pump therapy has been shown to reduce glycated haemoglobin levels without increasing the risk of hypoglycaemia.3 Continuous glucose monitoring also leads to improved glucose control and reduces the risk of hypoglycaemia4 and severe hypoglycaemia in adults with type 1 diabetes.5 Closed‐loop glucose control, combining insulin delivery with real‐time glucose sensing to administer insulin in a glucose‐responsive fashion, further improves glucose control.6 However, hypoglycaemia continues to be of concern during closed‐loop insulin delivery. This evidence concerns the gene INS and Hypoglycemia.
