Stimulation with interleukin-6 (IL-6), a well-known activator of JAK/STAT signaling, induced a robust but transient phosphorylation of STAT3 in GBM10 and GBM43 but had no effect on the stem-like line GBAM1, in contrast to what has been reported for other stem-like GBM cells[51] (Fig 5). The gene discussed is STAT3; the disease is glioblastoma.
