In addition to AD several neurodegenerative diseases – including chronic traumatic encephalopathy, progressive supranuclear palsy, corticobasal degeneration, and some variants of frontotemporal lobar degeneration – have been described in which tau aggregate deposition is a dominant pathology (Mohorko & Bresjanac 2008; Lee et al. 2001; McKee et al. 2009).
