Alzheimer’s disease (AD), progressive supranuclear palsy, corticobasal degeneration, argyrophilic grain disease, Pick’s disease, frontotemporal dementia with parkinsonism linked to chromosome 17, Niemann–Pick disease type C, and chronic traumatic encephalopathy are among a group of disorders collectively known as tauopathies because they are characterized by the accumulation of pathologically modified tau proteins [1,2,3]. Here, MAPT is linked to Alzheimer disease.
