CDKN2A and infection: In contrast to EBNA3-mediated repression of BIM, p15INK4b and p16INK4a, which can be reversed by inactivation of either EBNA3A or EBNA3C, regulation of p18INK4c and BLIMP-1 was shown to be irreversible by eight days post infection, with inactivation of EBNA3A and EBNA3C failing to lead to reactivation of either gene, even after thirty days [10,13,15,43,54].
