MEG3 is downregulated in several solid tumors (bladder, breast, cervical, colon, gastric, brain, lung, bone and prostate cancer) [33] and haematological malignancies like acute and chronic myeloid leukemias [34, 35] and it has been shown to exert tumor suppressor functions by inducing p53-dependent apoptosis [33].
