These biomarkers pertained to serum level of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), gamma-glutamyl transferase, C-reactive protein (CRP), uric acid, adiponectin, and vitamin D. High serum ALT and gamma-glutamyl transferase in patients with T2DM could be a manifestation of ongoing low-grade hepatic inflammation or hepatocellular damage, which is common in T2DM and metabolic syndrome. Here, CRP is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
