Using iPANDA, a bioinformatics software suite for qualitative analysis of intracellular signaling pathway activation based on transcriptomic data [16, 17], we revealed that FAK signaling and EGFR internalization pathway were significantly upregulated in smoking patients from TCGA NSCLC dataset, compared to the never-smoker counterparts. The gene discussed is PTK2; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
