Like other RBPs which either directly modulate transcript stability or regulate alternative splicing patterns, SORBS2 could impact gene expression and phenotypic output of ovarian cancer cells in part through enhancing the stability of a subset of gene transcripts, especially the metastasis suppressor WFDC1 and IL-17D transcripts, and interacting with their 3′ UTRs. The gene discussed is WFDC1; the disease is ovarian cancer.
