Mononuclear cells threated with agonists of TLR7 and TLR9 increased the expression of CD64 in monocytes of healthy individuals; likewise, the exposure of these cells to sera from patients with SLE positively regulated transcription and surface expression of CD64 in a manner dependent on the concentration of this cytokine (63). The gene discussed is TLR7; the disease is systemic lupus erythematosus.
