MUC16 and ovarian carcinoma: The promoter of mucin 16 (MUC16), also known as CA125, might be a potential tool to drive tumor-localized gene expression in ovarian cancer cells since CA125 is overexpressed in 80% of ovarian carcinomas, and serum CA125 is used as a marker for the monitoring of the treatment response (Bast and Spriggs, 2011).
