P2RY6 and gastroenteritis: Giving the fact that the expression of P2Y6 receptor by IEC is increased in inflammatory condition and in biopsies of patients with intestinal inflammation and that it contributes to chemokine release such as CXCL8, we hypothesized that P2Y6 receptor plays a role in the secretion of chemokines by IEC and in immune cell migration to the epithelium.
